Rural workers in the west of São Paulo gain living space with solar energy

Mobile structure with solar energy offers bathing, food and rest for rural workers at a plant in Sandovalina (SP)

In Sandovalina (SP), a municipality located in the region of Presidente Prudente, rural workers have access to the mobile leisure area during the three work shifts in the cultivation of sugar cane. The space has closets, bathrooms and heated showers that receive energy from photovoltaic panels.
Ivanez Muniz Ribeiro, agricultural assistant, reports how the space helps with the field routine, making it easier to take a shower, change clothes contaminated with pesticides, eat and rest after long periods under the sun. The sugar-energy plant has more than 900 employees, who have owned this space since 2023.

For Marcelo Pondé, occupational health and safety coordinator, the objective is to extend the well-being of industrial areas to rural areas, providing a safer and more productive environment.
The mobile structure has eight solar panels: six are responsible for producing electricity and two for heating water in the bathrooms. and the cafeteria. Sales director Fernando Juliano explains that the panels offer a better cost-benefit compared to the use of batteries, which would need to be changed daily to guarantee supply on three shifts.
Demand for these accommodations has grown monthly and is already expanding to other areas of agribusiness, such as peanut, soy and orange crops. According to the sector, this demonstrates a growing investment in quality of life and modernization for rural employees.
