Rubio is 'anti-Latin America' and doesn't like Brazil, says Lula about Trump's secretary

The criticisms of Rubio were made during a speech at an event in Catalão (GO). In his speech, Lula cited the North American report that proposes a 25% surcharge on Brazilian products and blamed the meetings between Bolsonaro's children and the Trump administration for the new sanctions on Brazil.
The US concluded on Monday (1st) an investigation that accuses the Brazilian government of adopting practices that "encumber or restrict" trade with the country.
Among them are PIX, illegal deforestation, piracy and failures in the application of laws anti-corruption.
As a result of the investigation, the US Trade Office (USTR) proposed the application of 25% tariffs on Brazilian goods.

In a hearing in the US Congress, Marco Rubio defended this Tuesday (2) the US government's foreign policy and, as an example, cited a wave of "coalition of friendly countries" in Latin America. But he placed Brazil on the list of exceptions of allies.
"It's fantastic that, apart from Nicaragua, Cuba, Venezuela and, of course, Brazil, although it is in the middle of an electoral cycle, and, to some extent Colombia, we have a region full of allies and friends of the United States," said Rubio.

Son of immigrants Cubans, Rubio has a history of strong interest in Latin American politics, with positions aligned with conservative groups.
In 2015 and 2016, when he was one of the rivals defeated by Trump in the Republican primaries, he received the joking nickname Little Marco ("Marquinhos") from the then candidate and was the target of jokes for his appearance.
Years later, Rubio allied himself with Trump and, today, holds one of the most powerful positions in the American government.
The current Secretary of State also maintains relations with the family of former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL). The rapprochement began in 2018 and, last week, Rubio welcomed Bolsonaro's children to the USA.

Flávio Bolsonaro met with Rubio in May
Senator and presidential candidate Flávio Bolsonaro (PL-RJ) met with Marco Rubio, last Wednesday (27).
At the time, Flávio stated that during the meeting they discussed the possibility of the United States designating the criminal factions Primeiro Comando da Capital (PCC) and Comando Vermelho (CV) as terrorist organizations. The senator stated that the secretary is in favor of the measure.
Two days later, the US State Department - headed by Rubio - announced that it would classify the factions as terrorist organizations. In a statement that day, Rubio stated that "the CV and the PCC are two of the most violent criminal organizations in Brazil".
