Corinthians idol and one of the biggest names in world football, Ronaldo Fenômeno arrived at Timão in 2009, after being strongly linked to Flamengo. The repercussion was great at the time, and caused controversy among the Rio fans, after all, the athlete trained at Ninho do Urubu. The case generates repercussions to this day, and was the subject of a chat between the top scorer and ESPN Brasil.

In an excerpt from the interview, the eternal number 9 spoke with former athlete Fabio Luciano, who revealed that he would like to have played with the striker at Rubro-Negro. Responding to the situation, the star explained that he wanted to have defended the Flamengo team, but highlighted his arrival at Alvinegro.

"What I wanted most at that time was to stay there at Flamengo... man, I was living a dream. On the one hand I wanted to have played for Flamengo, but on the other it was wonderful to have met Corinthians too. So man, I can't complain", revealed Ronaldo.

Ronaldo Fenômeno was announced as a reinforcement for Corinthians in December 2008. Corinthians' move surprised everyone at the time, after all, the club was returning to the elite of Brazilian football after winning Series B, and the athlete had spent four months at Flamengo's CT recovering from a serious knee injury.

While the expectations of the red and black fans increased, the club ended up hesitating by not presenting a project and a formal proposal to the star, Corinthians acted quickly and sealed the signing of the historic center forward.

In total, Ronaldo played 69 official games for Timão, scored 35 goals, and won the 2009 Campeonato Paulista, undefeated, and the Copa do Brasil that same year.
