Rod Stewart mourns the death of friend Bonnie Tyler: "I will miss her"

Singer Rod Stewart, 81, mourned this Thursday (9) the death of his friend and pop rock icon, Bonnie Tyler, at the age of 75. On social media, he compared his voice to that of the artist, responsible for the hit "Total Eclipse oh the Heart".

"We shared similar vocal styles. She was a good friend, a true shaker of souls. I sing 'I't' A Heartache' every night on the [One Last Time] tour. I'll miss you, dear Bonnie. Sir Rod," wrote Stewart.

Both artists became pop rock stars and were known for the characteristic hoarse timbre of their respective songs. Throughout her career, Bonnie Tyler spoke more than once about her desire to record with Stewart.

In 2018, she managed to get in touch with the singer, who agreed to form a musical partnership. In 2019, they released "Battle oh the Sexes", which is part of the singer's album, titled "Between the Earth and the Stars". Before that, Rod Stewart used to sing "It's a Heartache" in his shows.

Death of Bonnie Tyler
The singer's death was announced on her official website. The voice of "Total Eclipse of the Heart" had been hospitalized since May following emergency intestinal surgery.

"Bonnie's family and team are heartbroken to announce that she passed away unexpectedly last night, in a hospital in Portugal, as a result of the illness for which she was being treated."

Bonnie Tyler was placed in a medically induced coma after undergoing emergency surgery, according to The Guardian. "We know you all wish her the best and we ask for privacy during this difficult time, please," a spokesperson for the artist told the press.

Bonnie Tyler had hits in Europe, but her main worldwide success was "Total Eclipse of The Heart", from 1983, which secured first place on the Billboard singles chart in the United States.
