River Plate announces departure of 12 players for the remainder of the season

River Plate reported, this Tuesday (16), that 12 players are not part of the club's plans for the continuation of the season after the break for the World Cup.

The decision was communicated by the Millonarios through social media and is part of a reformulation of the squad for the second half of the year. Among the athletes who will leave the club are attacking midfielder Giuliano Galoppo, ex-São Paulo, and Paraguayan midfielder Matías Galarza, ex-Vasco.

Another prominent name on the list is defender Germán Pezzella, world champion with Argentina in 2022. In addition to them, Paulo Díaz, Maximiliano Meza, Fabricio Bustos, Alex Woiski, Maximiliano Salas, Ian Subiabre, Santiago Lencina and Andrés Herrera were also informed that they will not remain on the team.

There was no mention of left-back Matías Viña. On loan from Flamengo, the Uruguayan has an undefined future and could also leave River Plate in the coming months.

"Club Atlético River Plate informs that the professional squad will resume training this Wednesday, June 17th, and on Saturday, June 20th, they will travel to Alicante, Spain, to carry out pre-season training.
