Receita opens consultation on the special batch of automatic IR refund
Disclosure
The Federal Revenue opens, from 9 am next Wednesday (8), consultation on the special batch of automatic refund of Personal Income Tax (IRPF), a pilot initiative known as "cashback".
Payment will be made on July 15th, directly into the account linked to the taxpayer's CPF type Pix key.
The batch is intended for people who were not required to submit their Income Tax declaration in 2025 and, therefore, did not declare it, but had tax withheld at source throughout 2024 and have amounts to be refunded.
According to the Revenue, around 4 million taxpayers should benefit at this stage, with the release of approximately R$500 million in refunds. The refund value is limited to R$ 1,000 per taxpayer.
How "cashback" works
Automatic refund is a pilot project created to facilitate the return of amounts paid unduly or in excess by taxpayers who did not need to present an Income Tax declaration.
In this model, the Revenue uses information already available in its databases to automatically prepare a simplified declaration, identifying possible amounts to be refunded without the citizen having to initiate the process.
According to the agency, the measure seeks to reduce bureaucracy and prevent millions of Brazilians from failing to receive resources to which they are entitled due to ignorance of the rules or because they are exempt from declaring the tax.
Who is entitled
To receive the automatic refund, the taxpayer must meet all of the following requirements:
not be obliged to submit the IRPF declaration for the year 2025;
not have submitted the declaration on their own initiative;
have had income tax withheld at source during 2024;
entitled to a refund of up to R$1,000;
have a regular CPF and a Pix key registered with the CPF.
How to consult
The consultation can be made from July 8th on the Federal Revenue portal and also through the agency's official app.
In the "My Income Tax" area, the taxpayer will be able to access the automatically generated declaration, check the data used, include information additional payments, if necessary, and make adjustments before processing is completed.
Payment will be via Pix
The Revenue informed that the refund will be paid exclusively through a Pix key of the CPF type.
There will be no issuance of a payment order or deposit into bank accounts that are not linked to the taxpayer's CPF.
For this reason, anyone who does not yet have this type of Pix key must register it to receive the amounts.
Batch is separate from traditional refunds
The agency highlights that this special batch is not part of the regular 2026 Income Tax refund calendar.
While the "cashback" only includes taxpayers who did not submit a declaration, traditional batches continue to be paid normally to those who submitted the document within the deadline. The next regular batch is scheduled for July 31.
According to the Federal Revenue, the initiative is part of the tax administration modernization strategy, focusing on automating processes, simplifying tax obligations and expanding taxpayers' access to amounts paid unduly.
The body advises that consultations and follow-ups should only be carried out through official channels to avoid fraud.
