Reserve PM kills suspect during bank robbery in Porto Alegre

A reserve military police officer responded to a robbery at a newsstand, in the early hours of Monday (25), and killed one of the suspects in the Moinhos de Vento neighborhood, in Porto Alegre.

Two armed individuals tried to rob the PM along with his wife. The other man involved in the robbery managed to escape.

The incident was registered by the DHPP (Homicide and Personal Protection Police Station) and the Military Brigade was called to respond to the incident.

According to the corporation, the reserve police officer and his wife arrived at the newsstand to replace materials at the establishment, early in the morning.

The suspects then approached and announced the armed robbery. They would still have demanded the couple's personal belongings and valuables.

The victims said that one of the suspects started searching the soldier, suspecting that he was armed. Upon feeling threatened, the police officer reacted by shooting at them.

One of the shots hit a suspect, who died at the scene. The other managed to escape and has not yet been located.

The suspect who died had several police records, including intentional homicide, robberies, illegal possession of a firearm and receiving goods. The case remains under investigation by the Civil Police.
