Research reveals what makes profiles stand out on dating apps; look
A survey by Hinge, a dating app, reveals that 39% of Brazilian users value profiles with defined romantic goals. Among women, this number rises to 43%.
The data shows that making it clear what you're looking for, adding relationship goals, for example, can be a game changer. Humor is also one of the factors that draws attention. 17% of respondents value creative and humorous responses, and the number rises to 21% among LGBTQ+ respondents.
A verified profile and photos showing hobbies complete the standout factors, cited by 13% and 11% respectively. While for women, a verified profile is more relevant (15% vs 12%).
Men pay more attention to photos that reflect personal interests (14% vs 9%). Across generations, Millennials prioritize verified profiles (14% vs. 12%), while Gen Z notices photos more (13% vs. 9%).
Based on research and analysis of the behavior of dating app users, Hinge has gathered tips for those who want to create a more authentic profile:
- Add your Relationship Goals: this is a way to ensure transparency, generating more honest conversations and more sincere connections;
- Explore Icebreakers: specific details, curious stories and references that help start a conversation naturally. This can help other people imagine what it would be like to live with you;
- Show your hobbies: authentic photos generate more trust in those who view your profile. So, also share your likes and special moments;
- Don't try to look "perfect": when you look too polished, there are no edges or imperfections for someone else to connect with. So, show your imperfections and allow others to get closer;
- Show your personality with interactions: use resources such as voice, video, questions and polls to interact and get to know others more deeply.
