Rescuers bring food and blankets to cave inmates in Laos

Rescuers took food, water and blankets to a cave in Laos on Thursday (28), where a group of people remain trapped.

The first survivor was rescued this Friday (29).

Norrased Palasing, a Thai volunteer helping to search for survivors, captured images of the group sitting at the bottom of the cave, crying with relief.

In the video, Norrased said rescuers would bring food into the cave while they worked to pump out flood water.

The Reuters news agency was able to confirm the location through images released on social media this Friday (29), which show two divers participating in the rescue.

A group of seven residents entered the cave on May 19, looking for gold, but heavy rain caused a flash flood that blocked the entrance, according to rescuers from Laos and Thailand.

On Wednesday (27), rescuers reported that five of the seven residents found alive in the cave.

They were located by specialized cave divers and, for now, remain trapped in Xaisomboun province, in central Laos, while rescue teams continue to search for the two remaining people.
