Renato Gaúcho explains "suspicious attitude" and says: "I've never been a coward"

Vasco defeated Barracas Central 3-0 on Wednesday night (27), in São Januário, and reached the playoff phase of the Copa Sudamericana. One moment from the match caught attention. Coach Renato Gaúcho left the technical area before the final whistle.

In a press conference after the game, the coach explained that he left due to a sore throat. Afterwards, Portaluppi tore up the verb.

"I left the technical area because of my throat. If anyone ever thinks that Renato was or is a coward, that person has to study his life better, because his life is very low. Something I have never been and will never be is a coward, quite the opposite. If I were a coward, perhaps, I wouldn't have come to Vasco. I'm a man in all aspects and situations. It's very easy to throw it out there and everyone thinks that's what it is. That's the problem", went off.

Afterwards, the coach said that he often has information that the press does not have, which generates criticism before the press conference.

"During the game, I make a substitution, remove a player or spare a player, then everyone criticizes. Nobody waits for the end of the game here at the press conference to ask. It's very easy during the game to criticize and when I get here I give the explanation. The problem for some people is wanting to think that they are always ahead of the coach. He (coach) can make mistakes even with the information, without any problem. Now, it's hard to receive criticism without knowing why the coach made that decision", he concluded.

Vasco returns to the field next Sunday (31), at 4pm (Brasília time), to face Atlético-MG, in São Januário. The confrontation is valid for the 18th round of the Brazilian Championship.
