Remake of "Pantanal" was written by Benedito Ruy Barbosa's grandson
Benedito Ruy Barbosa, who died at the age of 95 this Tuesday (7), passed on his legacy in dramaturgy to his heirs.
Father of four children and ten grandchildren, the playwright had works such as "Pantanal" (1990) and "Renascer" (1993) adapted for a new version, which were aired in recent years.
The remakes of these two classics of national television drama are written by Bruno Luperi, one of the author's grandchildren. He died as a result of chronic kidney failure.
Bruno, aged 28, is the son of Edmara Barbosa, aged 65, also a writer and screenwriter. The new versions of "Pantanal" and "Renascer" debuted in 2022 and 2023, respectively.
He is part of the third generation of the family that works with soap operas. In 2016, at the age of 28, Bruno wrote "Velho Chico" alongside his grandfather and mother.
Another of Benedito's daughters, Edilene Barbosa, also followed in her father's footsteps in the arts. She works as a writer and contributor to soap operas. She worked on the remakes of "Sinhá Moça" (2006), "Cabocla" (2004) and "Paraíso" (2009).
In addition to Edmara and Edilene, Benedito Ruy Barbosa is the father of Ruy Maurício Barbosa and Marcelo Barbosa.
