Real Madrid announce signing of Dumfries for four seasons

Real Madrid announced this Sunday (5) the signing of right-back Denzel Dumfries. The Dutchman signed a four-year contract with the Spanish club after leaving Inter Milan.

The clubs did not disclose the negotiation values, but, according to the European press, Real Madrid initiated a termination fine of 20 million euros (around R$ 119 million).

Dumfries ends a five-season spell at Inter, a team he has played for since 2021, when he was signed from PSV Eindhoven. For the Italian team, he played 207 matches, scored 27 goals and distributed 28 assists.

During his career in Milan, the full-back won eight titles, including two Italian Championships and three Italian Cups. Last season, he was an important player in the campaign that ended with the national double, with the Serie A and Coppa Italia titles.

Dumfries is Real Madrid's fourth signing in this transfer window. Before him, the club had already announced the arrivals of Marc Cucurella, Bernardo Silva and Ibrahima Konaté.

The Merengue board seeks to strengthen the squad after a 2025/26 season without major titles. The team finished without winning La Liga and was eliminated in the quarter-finals of the Champions League.

According to reports in the European press, President Florentino Pérez had promised to reinforce the defensive sector during his re-election campaign and defined Dumfries as one of the main targets.

The full-back was also part of the Netherlands team in the current World Cup, but was eliminated in the round of 16 after a defeat to Morocco.
