Putin says Russia is in contact with the US regarding Cuba

President Vladimir Putin stated that Russia had been in contact with the United States regarding Cuba.

The Caribbean island is suffering from a US oil blockade, which has worsened the energy and economic crisis in the country.

Putin stated that Cuba is a "friendly country" of Russia, refusing to comment further.

"Regarding contacts on the Cuban issue, I will answer your question directly. You asked if we had contacts with the US government on the Cuban issue. Yes, we did. I would not like to comment further," said the Russian leader.

"As you know, we delivered a tanker with petroleum products to Cuba. Cuba is a friendly country of ours, and relations have traditionally been established for decades. The US government is aware of this. Our contacts with Cuba continue", he added.
