Putin rejects accusations against Russia after drone attack in Romania: 'We are not threatening Europe'

The President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, rejected accusations that the country was responsible for a drone attack that hit a residential building and left two injured in Romania this Friday (29).
When asked about the incident during a press conference, hours after the bombing, the Russian president said he knew nothing and challenged the neighboring country to hand over the wreckage of the drone to prove that he was launched from Russia.
"No one knows the origin of a drone. Ukrainian drones flew to Poland and the Baltic countries before... I think this happened again. Let them then hand over the wreckage to Russia and we will carry out an investigation", he provoked.
Putin also stated that the accusations that "Russia is preparing for a war with Europe are a lie" and that he cannot give a prediction for the end of the conflict with Ukraine, but that the Russian troops are "advancing every day", which could indicate that it is close to the end.
"Russia does not threaten Europe", he said.
When breaking the news about the attack, in the city of Galati, near the border with Ukraine, the Romanian Ministry of Defense stated that the drone was Russian.
Despite Putin's incisive denial, the spokesman for NATO's military headquarters once again assured that the drone that crashed in Romania was from Russian origin and said:
"NATO is evaluating how to improve Romania's and NATO's defenses against drone threats."

Several drone incursions have been detected in Romania since the start of the Russian offensive against Ukraine in February 2022, but this is the first time that one of these devices has crashed into a residential building.
According to the ministry, when the unmanned aircraft were detected near Romanian airspace, two F-16 fighter jets took off from the Fetesti airbase in the east of the country and "engaged in combat with the targets."

Romania classified the attack as a "serious violation of international law" and requested that the Organization of North Atlantic Treaty (NATO) accelerates the transfer of anti-drone capabilities to the country.
NATO stated that it will reinforce its defenses against all threats after the incident in Romania and that it is preparing the 21st package of sanctions against Russia.
"We condemn Russia's recklessness, and NATO will continue to strengthen our defenses against all threats, including drones," a NATO spokesperson said in a post on the social media platform Romania will not accept that the war of aggression waged by Russia against Ukraine is transferred to its citizens, said Nicusor Dan.
After a new aerial alert in Ukraine in the early hours of this Friday (29), another Russian drone proved the fire on a Turkish cargo ship. Two crew members were injured, according to the Ukrainian navy.
