PT members see Guimarães and Jaques on a collision course

The minister of the Secretariat of Institutional Relations, José Guimarães, and the government leader in the Senate, Jaques Wagner (PT-BA), have been on a collision course since the defeat of the nomination of the Attorney General of the Union (AGU), Jorge Messias, for a vacancy on the Federal Supreme Court (STF).

According to reports from allies made to CNN Brasil, Guimarães sent complaints to President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) about the government's conduct of votes in the Senate.

The minister reportedly expressed dissatisfaction with the performance of Jaques Wagner and, to a lesser extent, the government leader in Congress, Randolfe Rodrigues (PT-AP), in the vote in the Senate that rejected Messias.

In the assessment presented by interlocutors close to the SRI, the two leaders would be dispersed about the government's agenda in the Senate and focused on the elections in their respective states.

The assessment in the SRI is that the government's coordination needs to concentrate efforts on issues still pending.

The government's biggest battle in the Senate today is to make it possible to vote on the PEC that ends the 6x1 scale, a project that has not yet received a clear signal from the president of Congress, Davi Alcolumbre (União Brasil-AP).
