PSDB-Cidadania unanimously approves support for Aécio's pre-candidacy

The PSDB-Citizenship Federation unanimously approved this Tuesday (26) the support for federal deputy Aécio Neves (PSDB) as the party's pre-candidate for President.

National president of the PSDB, Aécio emerges as the party's alternative in the face of the refusal of Ciro Gomes, who preferred to be a pre-candidate for the government of Ceará. Presidential candidate in 2014 against Dilma Rousseff (PT), Aécio has not yet confirmed whether he will accept to run for another election in the Planalto.

"I'm not assuming a candidacy, I've experienced this before. From now on I feel obliged to expand these conversations. I want to see if this project is viable and I welcome this statement with serenity", stated Aécio during a press conference in Brasília.

State directories had already approved the name of the deputy from Minas Gerais as a pre-candidate in key states, such as São Paulo - Tucano's main electoral stronghold. The federation's desire is for Aécio to finalize conversations that he considers essential this week so that the pre-campaign announcement can be made as quickly as possible.

In his speech, Aécio positioned himself as a third way, anti-polarization alternative and "the only one with a country project since 2014". He also said that seeing President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) and Senator Flávio Bolsonaro (PL-RJ) as the only two options for the Presidency is "omitting" the political game.

To CNN, Aécio stated that a final decision regarding a possible presidential flight will only be taken in the final stretch of the period required by legislation, driven by the idea of "reconstructing the center".
