The proposed peace agreement between the United States and Iran provides for the release of US$ 24 billion in frozen Iranian assets, according to agency information.

According to Iranian media, the text also establishes the end of the war, including in Lebanon, and 60 days of negotiations for a nuclear agreement.
The Mehr agency says the memorandum of understanding between the two countries should:
suspend US sanctions on Iran
withdraw US military forces from the vicinity of the country
lift the naval blockade of Iranian ports, with the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz
stop hostilities on all fronts of the war
The proximity of an agreement between the two countries was announced by US President Donald Trump himself.
After announcing a third night of attacks on Iranian territory and saying that he intended to control the oil and gas in the country, Trump canceled the offensive and said he had decided to cancel it after negotiators reached a consensus on "final points" of the proposal.
Trump cancels attacks on Iran and returns to talking about a peace agreement
The North American president said that a definitive agreement with Tehran "may be signed over the weekend". The signing would "probably" take place in Europe and would be attended by his deputy, JD Vance, according to Trump.
Trump said that the "memorandum of understanding" has already been approved "by everyone in Iran", including the country's supreme leader, and that it is a great agreement, "because Iran will never have a nuclear weapon".
Minutes after Trump's speech, however, Iran stated that the country has not yet approved any agreement. "No text for the initial memorandum of understanding with the United States has been approved," stated the state agency Fars.
In a post on his social network Truth Social, where he made the announcement, he stated only that mediators "and others" agreed with the points.
He also went back on a statement he made earlier on Thursday and said that an operation on the island of Kharg, from where Iranian oil is exported, "is off the table."
In the post, Trump said that the "transaction" of negotiations has been finalized and the "date and place" of the signing will be announced soon. He also said the talks were taken "to the highest level of Iranian leadership."
"Considering that discussions with the Islamic Republic of Iran have been taken to the highest level of Iranian leadership and approved, I, as President of the United States of America, have canceled the strikes and bombings scheduled against Iran for tonight," Trump declared.
The announcement took place minutes before the official start of the 2026 World Cup, with the opening ceremony in Mexico. Until the last update of this report, there was still no information as to whether Trump's announcement had any connection with the football tournament. The USA is one of three countries that will host the event, alongside Mexico and Canada, and the Iranian team will compete in the championship.
New attacks
USA and Iran resume attacks in the Persian Gulf
Since Tuesday (9), the United States and Iran have returned to exchanging attacks, even under a ceasefire agreement signed by both parties.
The new escalation began after the crash of a military helicopter belonging to US forces during an overflight in the Strait of Hormuz region. After the episode, Trump accused Iran of having attacked the aircraft and said he would have to fight back.
On the same night, the US bombed defense systems on Iranian territory and radars in Hormuz. Iran responded with attacks on a US base in Bahrain. On Wednesday (10), the USA carried out a new attack, responded by Tehran with missiles launched again at countries in the Persian Gulf.
Iran announced the closure of the Strait of Hormuz and said the escalation further complicated talks for a peace deal, as well as making the ceasefire currently in effect "meaningless."
