Prince Harry loses privacy breach lawsuit against Daily Mail

Prince Harry, youngest son of King Charles, and other prominent British figures lost, this Tuesday (7), lawsuits for breach of privacy filed against the publisher of the Daily Mail newspaper, in which they alleged widespread illegal conduct.

Judge Matthew Nicklin dismissed the lawsuits in a written ruling.

Harry has brought several legal proceedings against the British press and has long been critical of their alleged abuse of power.

He and other figures, including Elton John, have alleged that dozens of reports about them published by Associated Newspapers in the Daily Mail and Mail on Sunday between the 1990s and 2011 were based on illegally obtained information.

Associated, in turn, classified the allegations as defamatory, and the lawsuits against the company were dismissed outright on Tuesday (7) - an outcome the publisher described as "an overwhelming victory for the Daily Mail and its journalists".
