Andrés Fassi, president of Talleres, from Argentina, gave an interview to ESPN Brasil and imposed June 12th as the deadline for Corinthians to pay US$7 million (approximately R$35.66 million) to the Argentine team regarding the debt for the purchase of midfielder Rodrigo Garro, in January 2024.

In case of non-compliance, the agent stated that he will take the case to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) and that he does not intend to extend the deadline again: "We are waiting for them to pay by June 12th. That is the deadline for us to wait to receive payment. If they don't pay, Talleres will go to CAS to have them execute the punishment. They (Corinthians) are convinced that they will pay us before. We will wait until that day", he said.

Initially, the deadline for payment was scheduled for the beginning of May, but the deposit ended up not happening and negotiations stalled due to bureaucratic issues that ended up interfering in the financial operation so that the pending issue could be closed. The Timão Central had even informed that Alvinegro had closed a loan with the company Outfield to help pay off the debt.

The plan was for the debt to be paid off by May 30th, which also ended up not happening, but the obstacles continued. In February 2025, the FIFA Arbitration Court (CAS) ordered Corinthians to pay 3.6 million dollars (R$ 18.7 million at the time). The amount reached R$40 million due to interest and charges.

At the time, Corinthians was chaired by Augusto Melo, who did not meet the demands of the Argentine club's board of directors, which ended up straining the relationship between the boards. After his dismissal, Osmar Stabile took over management of the club and resumed talks with Talleres, going in person to Argentina to seek closure for the pending issue.

Still in April, the current president of Corinthians had revealed that the Guidance Council (CORI) approved the debt payment plan. The Parque São Jorge club, it is worth remembering, has other disputes with FIFA due to debts for the signing of midfielders José Martínez and Charles from Philadelphia Union, from the United States and Midtjylland, from Denmark, respectively, in addition to the non-payment of the loan of striker Talles Magno, who belongs to New York City, also from the United States.
