Petrochemical company Braskem reported this Tuesday (9) that its board of directors elected Magda Chambriard, president of Petrobras, to head the petrochemical collegiate and approved Helcio Tokeshi for the position of CEO.
The decisions were taken at a meeting held at Monday (8), after an extraordinary general meeting that also approved the election of new members of the board of directors for a term lasting until 2028.

The changes occur after the sale of Novonor's (formerly Odebrecht) stake in Braskem to IG4, which began to share control of the petrochemical company with Petrobras. Novonor maintained a 4% stake in the company's capital, without voting rights.
In addition to choosing the new CEO, the board approved other changes to the statutory board for a two-year term.

Among them is the appointment of Carlos Brandão to the position of financial and investor relations director.
He also elected Hélio Baptista Novaes as vice-president of the board.
Changes at Braskem
Braskem has been undergoing a broad corporate reorganization since Novonor agreed, in April, to sell its controlling stake to the Shine I fund, advised by the manager IG4 Capital.
With the operation, Petrobras became co-controller of the petrochemical company alongside IG4, ending a cycle of decades in which Novonor was the company's main shareholder.
The change occurs at a challenging time for Braskem.
The company faces a scenario of low profitability in the global petrochemical sector and is still living with the financial impacts of the Maceió case, where rock salt extraction activities caused geological damage and led to the signing of billion-dollar compensation and reparation agreements.
The entry of IG4 was received by the market as an attempt to strengthen the company's financial and operational structure.
The new controller stated, at the time of the acquisition, that he intends to conduct the restructuring of Braskem together with Petrobras, seeking to recover the company's value generation and improve its competitiveness.
