President of Gaviões comments on the expulsion of Augusto Melo and demands the current board of Corinthians

On Monday night (1), at Parque São Jorge, the Corinthians Deliberative Council decided to expel former president Augusto Melo from the club's membership. The Ethics Committee, unanimously, had already recommended his exclusion from the institution. The disciplinary procedure took place based on the episode on May 31, 2025, when he, together with some allies, invaded the presidential office to try to regain power.
Corinthians' main organized fans were in front of the club's headquarters and, after the results were announced, they celebrated the outcome of the vote. In a press interview, the president of Gaviões da Fiel, Alexandre Domênio, known as Alê, stated that the current moment is a 'milestone' for the history of Alvinegro. Last week, Andrés Sanchez was also expelled from membership, while Duílio Monteiro Alves resigned from his role within the club.

"The 'Corinthian Week' should be made official, which marked the beginning of a moral cleansing within Parque São Jorge. This is a victory for the entire fan base. From the moment the Corinthian player began to become more politicized about the club's internal politics, this started to bother, and the internal mechanisms began to be destroyed. There is still a lot to be done. Today is a day of relief and happiness. The fans placed a great deal of trust in these three former presidents, but unfortunately they followed the wrong path, and Fiel, together with the internal system, managed to overthrow them."
In October last year, Andrés Sanchez was denounced by the Public Ministry of São Paulo for the irregular use of the Corinthians corporate card between 2018 and 2020. President between 2021 and 2023, Duílio Monteiro Alves also became a defendant and is being investigated by the MP-SP for the same reasons as Andrés. Augusto Melo, in turn, in June 2025, became a defendant in the developments in the VaideBet Case, a few months after being reported by the Civil Police.
In this way, Alê highlighted the role of the authorities and stated that, from now on, the focus will be on seeking clarification on issues relating to the current administration, led by Osmar Stabile. Recently, Alvinegro faces punishments from FIFA for non-payment of signings such as midfielder José Martínez, in addition to the loan of Talles Magno.
"We owe a lot to the Public Prosecutor's Office, which discovered the use of corporate cards and other frauds in Parque São Jorge. Now, our main focus is to continue following Corinthians wherever they are, but also to keep a close eye on Osmar Stabile. We focus a lot on the expulsions of the three former presidential candidates, but there are still doubts that we want to clarify with the current management; this will not go unnoticed."
"The Corinthians player is relieved, but we know that the internal problems continue and that we are under a transfer ban. Stabile needs to find a way to start paying off these debts so that the club can breathe at least. The charge is now on him, and he owes us satisfaction", he began.
Afterwards, he highlighted that Augusto Melo deceived the Corinthians fans by making several promises, but not fulfilling them: "I don't know if he is worse or equal to Andrés Sanchez, both for Gaviões and for Corinthians in general, because he deceived Fiel. We officially supported him because there was no way to support the continuity of the group that was in power, and he did what he did. He promised to our faces that everything would be different. Because of the daily promises he made When we came here, it felt like we were leaving Real Madrid. That's why seeing him leave has a special feeling of breaking trust."
Later, he spoke about the General Assembly of Associates, which will take place on June 20th and will deal with Corinthians' statutory reform. The proposals to update the internal regulations are based on the readjustment of the institution to the mechanisms of the General Sports Law, sanctioned in mid-2023. Between the end of 2025 and the beginning of 2026, 11 public hearings were held, attended by associates, counselors and collectives, to discuss the topic.
"On the 20th, there will be a reform of the statute. It is essential for the member to understand that the Corinthians fan 'from the gate out' wants to participate in this democratic moment and choose the president, having the right to get things right and wrong. We don't want to bloat the club, we don't want access to the swimming pool, boccia or badminton; we just want, minimally, the right to vote. We hope you look at this project clearly", he continued.
Finally, the president of the Gaviões asked for transparency from the current management regarding the controversy involving the irregularly hired security company, opened in the name of the operational manager of CT Dr. Joaquim Grava, Fernando José da Silva, in addition to mentioning again the situation of transferbans - the last one due to a debt with the Philadelphia Union, from the United States, for the hiring of José Martínez.
"I thought he would start defending himself. It's the problem of every president not to satisfy the Fiel Torcida. He goes up to the fifth floor to explain himself to five or six people, given that there are 35 million Corinthians fans who have become politicized and want to know what's going on. Issues such as company contracts and security are on our radar. He needs to explain how he will pay for this pile of transfer bans and detail the excessive purchase of cell phones. With the moral cleansing of the three former presidents completed, the focus total is now in Stabile", he concluded.
Check out two other answers from Alê below:
What does Gaviões da Fiel think about possible legal intervention in the club?
"We had an important meeting with the mentors of the request for judicial intervention. We heard a lot that the Gaviões should officially support everything that is posted on the topic, so we went to answer this question: what would change with the fans' official support? Their response was clear: at this moment, absolutely nothing changes. Justice does not accept external pressure; it accepts the laws."
"We have our internal opinions in the fans, no one is stupid and many people no longer believe in the current governance model, but officially we still cannot speak out about the intervention or about SAFiel. Corinthians fans need to understand that it is not enough for the fans to support the intervention to happen the next day. That's not how it works."
"As an entity, we have to be very careful with official positions, but, expressing a personal opinion as a Corinthians fan, I don't believe in almost anyone inside Parque São Jorge. I no longer believe in this model of governance for several reasons. We just expelled three former presidents and we continue to have accumulated problems. Is there no one honest to go in there and think at least about Corinthians, and not for their own benefit? They themselves are destroying their credibility with the fans. Someone competent needs to come in."
Will Gaviões support a candidate in the elections at the end of the year?
"Augusto Melo supported us and disappointed us a lot. Therefore, we will be very cautious. We will, yes, hold a hearing with the candidates to demand strong and real demands. The Corinthians are tired of being deceived and we have no more room for error. If we make mistakes again, Corinthians will be finished - it's just not finished yet because of Fiel Torcida. We will be hearing to understand the projects, but, officially and personally, I don't support anyone else."
