Premier League: De Zerbi says he will stay at Tottenham even if relegated
Coach Roberto De Zerbi reaffirmed that he will remain in charge of Tottenham even in the event of relegation from the Premier League.
Tottenham reaches the final round of the competition threatened by the fall. The team has a two-point advantage over West Ham, the first team within the relegation zone.
A draw at home against Everton, this Sunday (24), is enough to guarantee Spurs' stay in the English elite, thanks to a better goal difference than West Ham. On the other hand, a defeat combined with West Ham's victory over Leeds could cause Tottenham's first relegation since 1977.
In April, De Zerbi had already stated that he would remain at the club regardless of the team's situation. When asked again about the matter, the coach maintained his speech.
"Yes, I confirm everything. It's still an honor to be coach of Tottenham, even if on Sunday we are fighting against relegation. That's not a problem," said the Italian.
De Zerbi also stated that he sees football beyond position in the table.
"We are fighting for something very important for everyone. That is football. But we have enough quality. To face the pressure, you need to find courage within yourself, understand the situation and force yourself to do your best", he added.
The games in the last round of the Premier League take place at 12pm (Brasília time) this Sunday.
