An 18-year-old Portuguese man investigated for instigating attacks in schools in Brazil, including the attack on the Sapopemba State School, in the East Zone of São Paulo, which killed the 17-year-old student Giovanna Bezerra Silva, was sentenced to six years in prison by the Portuguese Courts this Wednesday (1st).

According to Agence France Press (AFP), the Portuguese man, who at the time of the allegations was a teenager, was convicted of moral complicity in a murder attempt committed by a Brazilian student against classmates who were bullying him, possession of child pornography and for inciting other teenagers to commit acts of violence against animals. most of the crimes he was accused of", said judge Pedro Botelho Vieira, quoted by the local press.
The trial took place behind closed doors at the Santa Maria da Feira court, in the district of Aveiro, where the young man lived until he was preventively arrested, in May 2024.

"It is clear from Brazil's case that the [Brazilian] minor was planning this attack for more than 30 days. There is no exchange of messages between the defendant and the minor," said the judge.
The MP accused him of being responsible for a group, mainly on the gaming platform Discord, in which he incited teenagers to commit, via live broadcast, violent acts against themselves, other people and pets.
Still as per the MP, among the acts was the instigation of four massacres in schools in Brazil. Three of them were stopped by the authorities before they took place and their eventual perpetrators were aged 12, 13 and 14.
