Port of Paranaguá invests R$81 million in energy substation
The Port of Paranaguá reported this Thursday (25) that it made an investment of R$81.3 million for the construction of a substation with an installed capacity of 60 MW (megawatts) and connection at 138 kV (kilovolts). The ETR Consortium has two years to complete the project, which should fuel the terminal's expansion plans for the next 30 years.
The project's capacity is equivalent to the energy consumption of approximately 30,000 to 60,000 homes, considering an average monthly consumption of between 150 and 250 kWh (kilowatt-hour).
"The substation was planned to structure the Port for the next 30 years, taking into account the expansions planned for the future, such as the T- and F-shaped piers", highlights the CEO of Portos do Paraná, Luiz Fernando Garcia.
The port authority states that the "main" advantage of the project is the direct connection with Copel's main substation as it eliminates the need for supply through intermediate step-down substations. To achieve this, it will be necessary to adapt the electrical network, with the installation of new poles along approximately four kilometers of urban roads.
