Pope Leo XIV arrives in Barcelona to bless the new tower of the Sagrada Familia

Pope Leo Family and will bless the new tower that has made it the tallest church in the world.

Pope calls for reparations for victims of Church abuse in Spain
The pope's plane landed at 12:45 pm (7:45 am Brasília time) in El Prat airport, in the Catalan capital.
The pontiff began his trip in Madrid, where he gave an unprecedented speech to the Spanish Parliament, met with victims of sexual abuse by the clergy and celebrated a mass in the center of the Spanish capital for 1.5 million people.
This Tuesday, the fourth day of his week-long visit to Spain, Leo XIV will visit the city's cathedral, around which thousands of faithful were gathered.
During the afternoon, the pope will lead a prayer vigil at the Olympic Stadium in Barcelona.
On Wednesday, he will meet with inmates in a penitentiary and visit the abbey on the mountain of Montserrat, before mass at the famous Sagrada Familia.
The mass will be celebrated exactly 100 years after Gaudí's death, on June 10, 1926.

Gaudí, a fervent Catholic, whose canonization process is progressing in the Vatican, was hit by a tram in Barcelona when he was walking to a church to pray.
After the mass, the pope will bless the tower of Jesus Christ, the central piece that rises above the ensemble, completed in February.
The tower took the basilica to its maximum height, 172.5 meters, which made it the tallest church in the world.
Forecasts indicate that the Sagrada Familia should be completed in around 10 years.
