Police wait for Moraes to hear from Bolsonaro about weapon seized in raid

The PCDF (Civil Police of the Federal District) awaits a decision from Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the STF (Supreme Federal Court), to hear former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL) in the investigation investigating the seizure of a weapon registered in his name found with a former GSI (Institutional Security Office) agent during a raid.

In a letter sent to the Supreme Court this Thursday (18), the corporation requested authorization for Bolsonaro to be summoned to give testimony via video conference on June 24, at 3 pm. According to the police, an attempt at personal summons was not completed because the former president's escort team prevented it.

The investigation was opened after the Military Police of the Federal District seized a Glock pistol, 9 mm caliber, registered in the name of Bolsonaro. The soldier who had the weapon told the police that the weapon would be taken for maintenance.

In a statement sent to Moraes on Wednesday (17), the former president's defense confirmed that the seized pistol belongs to Bolsonaro.

According to the lawyers, members of his security team removed, without his prior knowledge, the weapon's firing pin, an essential part for the shooting, for fear of accidents, as the former president takes psychiatric medications that could affect his cognition.

Allies fear revocation of house arrest
As CNN showed, allies of Jair Bolsonaro fear the revocation of the former president's house arrest after the seizure of the weapon.

The group's assessment is that STF decisions have been unfavorable to Bolsonaro, which increases apprehension within the group.

Privately, members of the former president's environment say that "anything can happen" in light of the new episode. They cite as an example decisions taken by the Supreme Court throughout the investigations and trial involving Bolsonaro. Allies have also reinforced criticism of the Court's actions, arguing that the country is experiencing a "State of exception" and that Minister Alexandre de Moraes acts as a "political agent".

The allies insist that, even after the weapon's seizure, "there is no reason" for the Court to change the decision on Bolsonaro's house arrest. The former president has been under temporary humanitarian house arrest at his home in Brasília since March. The measure was granted due to the politician's health problems. The 90-day period for the Supreme Court to reevaluate the measure ends on June 25th.
