Police from Bahia and Rio arrest suspect for death of soldier in Salvador
An operation between the Military Police of Bahia and Rio de Janeiro arrested, this Friday (22), a drug dealer from Bahia suspected of involvement in the death of Military Police soldier Maurício Carmo de Jesus, in October 2022, in Salvador.
According to the Public Security Secretariat of Bahia, the suspect was located in the North Zone of the capital of Rio de Janeiro.
According to investigations, the man worked in partnership with a criminal organization in Rio de Janeiro and was responsible for organizing the shipment of weapons, ammunition and drugs to Bahia, in addition to participating in money laundering schemes and ordering executions linked to drug trafficking.
In addition, the suspect was also wanted by the courts for involvement in a double homicide that occurred in Salvador. According to the police, he is identified as the author of the shots that killed soldier Maurício, aged 36, and his brother, Valter Carmo de Jesus, aged 40.
The crime took place on October 30, 2022, in the Cosme de Farias neighborhood, in the capital of Bahia. In an image, which circulated on social media at the time, it is possible that the criminal, in red, after he killed the PM soldier. See:

According to the secretariat, the suspects have sought refuge in communities due to the alliance between local factions and the Red Command, which is offering shelter and weapons in exchange for logistical support for trafficking.
"In the last 48 hours, the Police Forces intercepted two Bahian drug traffickers who tried to board at the Salvador airport for Rio de Janeiro and caught up, in the capital of Rio, with another member of a faction on the run from Justice. Intelligence will continue to guide the fight against organized crime", pointed out the State Secretary of Public Security, Marcelo Werner.
