Police arrest 174 attackers of women in operation in SP
A major operation by the São Paulo Civil Police arrested 174 female attackers, during this Thursday (3), in the action called "D-Day of Operation Protected Woman".
The mobilization fulfilled court orders related to crimes of domestic and sexual violence against women. There were 98 people arrested in the act and 76 arrest warrants were served.
The operation was coordinated by the DDMs (Women's Defense Police Stations). The teams also registered 689 requests for protective measures for women victims of gender-based crimes or threatened by aggressors.
The Secretary of Women's Policies, delegate Adriana Liporoni, highlighted that the operation reinforces the integration between prevention, reception and accountability of aggressors. "Protecting women requires permanent, integrated and effective action. Each order fulfilled represents a concrete response from public authorities to interrupt cycles of violence", he stated.

"When the judicial measure is effectively executed, the State interrupts the cycle of violence, holds the aggressor responsible and offers more security so that the victim can continue to be monitored by the protection network", says delegate Cristiane Braga, coordinator of the Women's Defense Police Stations.
Operação Mulher Protegida is part of the set of permanent actions of the Government of São Paulo to strengthen the protection network for women, qualify the actions of public bodies and increase the accountability of aggressors throughout São Paulo.
Record number of femicides in 2026
The state of São Paulo registered 107 cases of femicide between January and April this year. The number is the highest for the first four months since 2018, the date on which complaints began to be published on the SSP-SP (São Paulo Public Security Secretariat) portal.
According to a survey carried out by CNN Brasil, the data indicates a growth of 205.71% from 2018 to 2026, with an average annual growth of approximately 15.05% per year.
In 2026, April was the month in which the most crime incidents were recorded. Check out records made this year below:

According to the report, in 2024 there were 91 femicides recorded, ranking second with the highest number of occurrences between the months compared.
In addition, between 2021 and 2023 there was also a constant increase in cases of femicide. The value went from 53 (2021), to 60 (2022), and then to 80 (2023), representing an increase of around 50.94%.
The year with the lowest number of complaints (between January and April) was 2018, with only 35 records.
In a note, the SSP-SP informed that the Government of São Paulo has been expanding the protection network for victims, with 144 Women's Defense Police Stations, 220 remote assistance police stations, more than 650 specialized police officers, in addition to having implemented the SP Safe Woman Patrol.
