Poc Con: largest LGBTQIAP+ comics fair honors queer artists

Poc Con, considered one of the largest LGBTQIAP+ comics and graphic arts fairs, takes place in the Anhembi District, in the North Zone of São Paulo, between the 5th and 6th of June with free entry.

The main program takes place from 1pm to 8pm in Auditorium B of the Anhembi District Convention Center. The event features autograph sessions, workshops, debates and even cosplay contests with lip sync performance.

There will be more than 200 artists from Brazil and abroad who are part of the queer community to exhibit their work.

Poc Con traditionally takes place during the period of the São Paulo LGBT Pride Parade, aiming to give more visibility and expand the celebration of the cause.

Despite free entry, prior registration is required for the workshops that will take place at the Holiday Inn Hotel, behind the Anhembi District, which this year are focused on themes such as drawings, zines, artisanal bookbinding and the creation of universes.

In the 2026 edition, the event pays homage to artists Germana Viana and Vagalume, the latter having passed away in 2025 and worked on projects for studios such as Netflix, Cartoon Network, Warner and others.

Artists such as Laerte, the author of the best-seller "Quinze Dias", Vítor Martins and the director of "Today I want to return alone", Daniel Ribeiro will also be present.

Why is the name Poc Con?
Poc is an old term known by the queer community, which was used to disparage homosexuals, trans and transvestites seen as effeminate. The term was originally said as 'poc poc', referring to the noise that high heels make when walking.

Currently, slang is used in an ironic and humorous way among LGBTQIA+ people in general, redefined to affirm identity.
