PM decrees retirement of lieutenant colonel accused of wife's death in SP

The Military Police of São Paulo decreed, this Tuesday (9), the retirement of Lieutenant Colonel Geraldo Leite Rosa Neto, accused of the death of his wife Gisele Alves Santana.

The order was published in the DOE (Official State Gazette) and signed by Colonel Antonio Thomazelli Junior, current director of DIPM (Inactivity and Military Pension).

The decision formalizes the transfer of the soldier to the PM reserve, who will now receive his monthly salary through SPPrev (São Paulo Previdência).

Since Geraldo's arrest, on March 18 of this year, the lieutenant colonel has had his payments suspended by the Military Police. According to the SSP (Public Security Secretariat), the transfer to the reserve does not interfere with Geraldo's criminal or disciplinary liability.

The interruption of social security salaries, however, depends on a definitive court decision. This means that, even with retirement decreed, the officer continues to receive a salary from the state government which, according to proportionality criteria, should be around R$20,000.

In a note to CNN Brasil, the lieutenant colonel's defense informed that "Lt. Col. Neto's acquired right has been officially confirmed."

Military Police soldier Gisele Alves Santana, aged 32, was found dead in her apartment in Brás, in the central region of São Paulo, on February 18th. Initially treated as a suicide, the incident evolved into an investigation into qualified feminicide and procedural fraud.

Lieutenant Colonel Geraldo Leite Rosa Neto, 53 years old, Gisele's husband, has been preventively detained at the Romão Gomes Military Prison since March 18. He was denounced by the Public Prosecutor's Office and became a defendant for feminicide and procedural fraud.
