Several employees were injured when the front landing gear of a Boeing 787 gave way unexpectedly at a gate at Frankfurt airport, Germany, this Thursday (4).
The information was confirmed by the airline Lufthansa. Boarding had not yet begun when the collapse occurred, but members of the company's crew and ground staff were on the aircraft.
"Passengers had not yet boarded. Several employees were injured and are receiving medical treatment," a company spokesperson said in an emailed statement.
The incident occurred at 12:45 p.m. - 7:45 a.m. Brasília time - and the jet was destined for Los Angeles, Lufthansa said, adding that it is "investigating the circumstances of the incident with the competent authorities".
After the landing gear broke, the plane was left partially upside down, with emergency vehicles parked around it.
