Pink Floyd saxophonist Dick Parry dies aged 83

Saxophonist Dick Parry, known for his work in the band Pink Floyd, died at the age of 83 on Friday (22). The information was released by guitarist David Gilmour, 80.

In a post made on Instagram, Gilmour mourned the death and paid tribute to his friend, with whom he shared the stage since he was 17.

"His feeling and timbre make his saxophone playing unmistakable, a signature of enormous beauty known to millions and an essential part of songs like 'Shine On You Crazy Diamond', 'Wish You Were Here', 'Us and Them' and 'Money'", wrote the guitarist.

Parry was born in Kentford, United Kingdom, on December 22, 1942. His work gained notoriety mainly through his solos on Pink Floyd songs such as "Us and Them", "Money" and "Wearing the Inside Out", with appearances on the band's highly successful albums, including "The Dark Side of the Moon".

Alongside the British band, Parry participated in presentations and tours. In addition to Pink Floyd, the saxophonist played on the album "Riddle of the Sphinx", by the American group Bloodstone.
