Pope Leo XIV celebrates historic mass at the Sagrada Familia
Pope Leo after decades of construction, exactly on the centenary of the architect's death.
At Mass, the pontiff called the basilia "an eloquent catechesis of colors and lights". The pope once again asked world leaders not to encourage wars and stated that "it is not possible to love Jesus and promote wars."
Leo XIV, who is on a tour of Spain, arrived at the scene in his popemobile at around 2pm. Before the mass, the pope took a tour of the basilica. During the ceremony, he will bless the tower of Jesus Christ, the largest in the basilica and which made it the largest in the world, whose construction was completed a few months ago.
A crowd of faithful filled the streets of Barcelona to accompany Leo XIV's visit to the basilica. The Spanish Prime Minister, Pedro Sanchez, the King of Spain, Felipe VI, and Queen Letízia attended the mass. See photos of the mass below:

Pope Leo XIV in Spain
Pope Leo The pope is on a week-long tour of Spain.
On Tuesday, the pontiff led a vigil at the Lluís Companys Olympic Stadium, also in Barcelona, along with around 40,000 faithful.
On Monday, Leo XIV gave a speech at the Spanish parliament in Madrid and had a brief meeting behind closed doors with Puerto Rican singer Bad Bunny at the Santiago Bernabéu stadium. The Holy See did not release photos of the meeting.
