PGR receives request to investigate Mário Frias on suspicion of "rachadinha"
The PGR (Attorney General's Office) received a representation from federal deputy Chico Alencar (PSOL-RJ) asking for the investigation of deputy Mário Frias (PL-SP) on suspicion of "rachadinha" in his office in the Chamber of Deputies.
The request was presented after reports published receipts and bank statements that indicate transfers made by former parliamentary secretary Gardênia Morais to the then chief of staff Raphael Azevedo, in addition to payments linked to Frias' family members.
In his representation, Chico Alencar states that the facts may indicate the commission of crimes of embezzlement, concussion, passive corruption, money laundering and criminal organization.
According to the document sent to the PGR, Gardênia, who worked in Frias' office between February 2023 and May 2024, would have returned part of the salary received as a parliamentary advisor "every month".
The former employee also stated that other employees in the office would also make returns and stated that the deputy was aware of the transfers.
"The documents obtained by g1 show that, between February 2023 and March 2024, Gardênia made transfers totaling R$35,116 in favor of the then chief of staff Raphael Azevedo, his ex-wife and another relative, always on dates close to the receipt of the remuneration", stated Chico Alencar.
The representation cites bank receipts that would indicate transfers to the then chief of staff and his family members between February 2023 and March 2024. The text also mentions the payment of a credit card bill from Frias' wife, in the amount of R$4,800, and a PIX of R$1,000 sent to the parliamentarian's mother.
In the piece, Chico Alencar maintains that the use of office funds to cover private expenses or pay salary returns would represent a "serious misuse of purpose in the application of public resources".
The PSOL deputy asks the PGR to open a preliminary procedure to investigate the case, request documents from the Chamber of Deputies, collect statements and evaluate a possible request to open an investigation at the STF (Supreme Federal Court). As a federal deputy, Mário Frias has privileged jurisdiction before the STF.
Sought by CNN Brasil, Mário Frias did not comment until the publication of this text.
