PF sees Vorcaro's new plea bargain as "more complete"
Daniel Vorcaro's defense presented to the PF (Federal Police) and the PGR (Attorney General's Office) a new version of the plea bargain proposal. According to CNN Public Security analyst Elijonas Maia, told CNN Novo Dia, the PF evaluates this new proposal as "more complete" than the previous one, which had been formally rejected about two weeks earlier.
New proposal brings more names, dates and information
Delegates from the case investigation team consulted by Elijonas Maia indicated that the new document presented by lawyer Sérgio Leonardo, from Daniel Vorcaro's defense, contains more names, more information, more dates and additional annexes in relation to the previous proposal.
The rejected version had been criticized by the PF on the grounds that Vorcaro had omitted names and protected certain people - information that the corporation itself had already gathered from the analysis and expertise of one of the eight cell phones seized from the person being investigated.
The new proposal was presented this week and also included an addendum prepared by the defense, with new information added to the document. According to members of the PF interviewed by the analyst, the corporation views the proposal "with positive eyes" and understands that there is much progress to be made in the investigation. The content includes, among other elements, references to politicians.
Next steps in the process
From now on, both the PF and the PGR will analyze the content of the proposal to check whether there are enough new elements to approve or reject the plea bargain once again.
Elijonas Maia highlighted that this is still a proposal, and that, if the PF recognizes the existence of new information and elements, a new phase will begin, with testimonies and checking of the facts presented by Daniel Vorcaro.
The entire process must later be taken to the STF (Supreme Federal Court), where Minister André Mendonça acts as rapporteur of the case, so that a decision can be made on whether or not to approve the plea bargain.
According to Elijonas Maia, this is a long process, but the new proposal represents a relevant fact in the investigation of what the PF points out as a mega fraud scheme of R$40 billion to R$50 billion involving Banco Master.
Vorcaro's detention conditions
Daniel Vorcaro remains detained at the Federal Police superintendence in Brasília, in a special room adapted as a cell, equipped with air conditioning, bed, private bathroom, closet, minibar and window overlooking the institution's garden.
This structure was determined by André Mendonça following a request from the defense, who claimed that Vorcaro needed an adequate space to have access to his lawyer and, thus, gather information to prepare a new proposal to inform the Federal Police.
