PF carries out operation against child sexual abuse in São Gonçalo (RJ)

The PF (Federal Police) launched, this Thursday morning (2), Operation Arcanjo XXVI, in São Gonçalo, in the Metropolitan Region of Rio de Janeiro, to investigate crimes related to the storage and sharing of images of child sexual abuse over the internet.

The action mobilized around 50 agents from the Federal Police Station in Niterói, the GPI (Ready Intervention Group) and the COT (Tactical Operations Command). A preventive arrest warrant and two search and seizure warrants were served in the Jardim Catarina neighborhood. The court orders were issued by the 2nd Federal Criminal Court of Campos dos Goytacazes.

According to the Federal Police, in addition to the main target of the operation, two other men were detained in the act during the action. According to agents, they were found with weapons, ammunition, drugs, clothing and tactical accessories. The three involved were taken to the Federal Police Station in Niterói and, after the usual procedures, will be transferred to the prison system.

During the execution of the warrants related to the investigation of child sexual abuse, the police seized four cell phones and two computers. The equipment will undergo forensic examination to assist in the progress of investigations.

The Federal Police reported that the operation seeks to gather evidence, identify possible victims and investigate the participation of other people in the crimes being investigated.

Those involved may be held liable for the crimes of storing and sharing images of child sexual abuse, in addition to other crimes that may be identified throughout the investigation.
