Petrobras reduces the price of aviation kerosene by 14.5% from July

Petrobras will reduce the price of aviation kerosene (QAV) sold to distributors by 14.5% from July onwards. According to the state-owned company, the cut is equivalent to a drop of R$0.81 per liter in relation to the amount charged in the previous month.
According to the company, the reduction occurs because international fuel prices lost strength following the reduction in geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, which had put pressure on prices in recent months.
QAV prices are readjusted by Petrobras at the beginning of each month, as provided for in the contract.
This is the second consecutive cut in the price of fuel. In June, Petrobras had already reduced the value by 14.2% (R$ 0.93 per liter), ending a sequence of increases recorded since March.

Despite the two consecutive drops, aviation kerosene still accumulates an increase of 40.5% in 2026. Compared to the price charged in December 2025, a liter of fuel remains R$ 1.39 more expensive.
Drop can alleviate airline costs
Aviation kerosene is the fuel used by most commercial planes. Produced from petroleum refining, the QAV is formulated to operate safely in jet engines, withstanding extreme temperature and altitude conditions.
For the airline sector, the QAV is one of the main operating costs. In periods of high oil prices or the dollar, its price tends to rise, which can increase airline expenses and, in some cases, put pressure on ticket prices.
With the reduction announced by Petrobras, the cost of fuel tends to decrease for distributors, which can alleviate some of the airlines' expenses.
However, this does not mean an immediate drop in ticket prices, as other factors, such as demand, exchange rate and competition, also influence the amount charged to passengers.
In recent months, the price of QAV has been pressured by the rise in oil prices on the international market, driven by geopolitical tensions in the Middle East and fears of interruption in the transportation of the commodity through the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world's main oil routes.
According to data from the National Civil Aviation Agency (Anac), the price Average domestic tickets reached R$ 632.53 in May, an increase of 11.2% compared to the same month in 2025.
In the same period, a liter of aviation kerosene reached R$ 6.46, an increase of 68.5% in the annual comparison, according to the National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP).
