Peru will announce the results of the second round by July 3; Keiko Fujimori is ahead in the vote count

The final result of the second round in Peru, which has right-wing candidate Keiko Fujimori as the projected winner, will be announced by July 3, the head of the electoral authority said this Friday (26).

Com With 99.88% of the ballots counted, the eldest daughter of former dictator Alberto Fujimori has an irreversible advantage of just over 44,500 votes over the leftist Roberto Sánchez, who threatened not to recognize the result.
Keiko has so far obtained 50.12% of the votes, against 49.88% for Sánchez, according to data from the National Office of Electoral Processes (Onpe). There are 33,300 votes remaining to be counted, out of a total of 19 million.
"We can now say, with complete certainty, that the full announcement of the results of the second round will be made by July 3," said the president of the National Electoral Jury, Roberto Burneo. Certifications will be handed over to the winning candidate on July 15, at the National Theater in Lima, he added.

The winner will replace the interim president, José María Balcázar, on July 28, for a five-year term.
Legislative without majority
In addition to the president, Peruvians elected the members of the new bicameral parliament, made up of 130 deputies and 60 senators. None of the six parties that will form the Legislature won a majority in parliament.
Keiko's Força Popular had 22 senators and 45 deputies. Taking other parties into account, the right-wing forces have 30 seats in the Senate and 63 in the Chamber of Deputies.
Sánchez's Together for Peru will have 14 senators and 31 deputies. Left or center-left parties won a total of 30 seats in the Senate and 67 in the Chamber of Deputies.
