Forward Paulinho completed Palmeiras' rout against Flamengo this Saturday (23), at Maracanã, and scored again after almost a year. During this period, he spent 10 months away from the field recovering from an uncomfortable leg injury.

Paulinho arrived from Atlético to Palmeiras in 2025 with a leg injury. He recovered to play in the Club World Cup, but after the competition he had to stop for treatment again.

It took 10 months of recovery until he returned to acting at the beginning of May. Now, he scored the first goal after his return and recalled the difficult period of treating the injury.

"First is to express my happiness in returning to play. It was a very difficult process for almost a year. 10 months of suffering, not being able to be active, not being able to do many things on a daily basis, seeing my teammates reaching the final of the Libertadores, the final stretch of the Brazilian Championship... Seeing all this from the outside was very difficult", he began to SporTV.

The striker stated that he tried to be present in the club's daily life in every possible way, and that the entire Palmeiras cycle helped him a lot.

"The entire team, staff, management, helped me a lot and gave me confidence in this process to return this year at the right time, following a game limitation protocol. This made me calmer and more confident so that when the teacher needs me I will be able to play", he highlighted.

Paulinho also cited the importance of the victory for Palmeiras, who take "one more step" in the leadership of the Brasileirão, opening a seven-point lead over Flamengo. Created by Vasco, he provoked Rubro-negro after the goal and caused confusion.

Palmeiras and Paulinho return to the field on Thursday (28), when they host Junior Barranquilla-COL, in the last round of the Libertadores group stage. Alviverde needs to win to confirm qualification for the round of 16.
