In times when taking selfies with artists has become almost an obligation for many fans, the legendary Paul McCartney decided to follow a different path. The former Beatle recently revealed why he avoids taking photos with admirers and the musician's explanation ended up moving many people on social media.

While appearing on the podcast The Rest Is Entertainment, McCartney spoke openly about how fame has completely changed with the arrival of cell phones and social media. According to him, the relationship between artists and fans has transformed over the decades and today there is constant pressure to record each encounter.

The musician said that he usually refuses photo requests and explained that this decision is directly linked to the desire to preserve his identity and continue living simply, without seeing himself as someone "above" other people.

"When I start to feel too famous, it bothers me. I want to continue just being myself", said Paul.

The artist also revealed a curious comparison that he usually uses to explain his decision. According to him, he once saw a man in Saint-Tropez charging tourists to take photos with a monkey on the beach. McCartney said he doesn't want to feel like he's being treated the same way.

"When I take photos all the time, I feel like I stop being myself and become someone else," he explained.

The statement quickly resonated with fans around the world. While some people perfectly understood the singer's position, others said that selfies are part of the connection between artists and admirers nowadays.

During the conversation, Paul also commented on how he tries to mentally deal with the gigantic fame built since the Beatles' days. The singer stated that he prefers not to think too much about his historical dimension in order to maintain his sanity on a daily basis.

"If I stop to think about all this, my head will explode", joked the musician.

Even at the age of 83, McCartney remains extremely active in music and continues to be one of the most influential figures in the history of world rock.

The singer also took the opportunity to highlight the importance of family in his personal development, stating that he had a simple, loving upbringing surrounded by people workers, something that helped him keep his feet on the ground despite his global fame.

In addition to statements about his personal life, Paul McCartney continues to prepare news for his fans. His new studio work, The Boys Of Dungeon Lane, arrives in the next few days and marks another important phase in the career of the eternal Beatle.

Recently, the musician released the track "Home to Us", recorded alongside Ringo Starr, rekindling nostalgia among admirers of the historic British band.
