Pastor from MG is one of the victims of the earthquakes in Venezuela, says family

Pastor Romildo Batista de Lima, aged 69, who lived in Uberlândia, in the Triângulo Mineiro, is among the victims of the earthquake that hit Venezuela on Wednesday (24). The information was confirmed to Romildo's family by his wife Carlha Nacarid and passed on to g1 by his niece Jhulya Ribeiro de Lima.
➡ On Wednesday night (24), two earthquakes in a row hit the northern region of the country, where Caracas is located. In addition to the deaths, the tremors collapsed buildings and left a trail of destruction in the Venezuelan capital and surrounding areas. The earthquakes were the strongest in the country in more than 100 years.

According to Jhulya, Carlha said that her husband died after a wall collapsed on him while they were both trying to protect themselves.
"She told us that when the earthquake started they tried to run and the wall fell on them. My uncle was rescued with Carlha still alive, but he died in the hospital. His wife [Carlha] had a fractured pelvis and remains hospitalized" he stated Jhulya.

g1 contacted Itamaraty to confirm whether Romildo is one of the deaths of Brazilians already identified by the ministry.
In a statement, Itamaraty informed that due to the right to privacy and in compliance with the provisions of the Access to Information Law and decree 7,724/2012, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs does not disclose or confirm personal information of citizens who request consular services and do not provide details about the assistance provided to Brazilians.
On Wednesday, the federal government confirmed the death of two Brazilians, a man and a woman, whose identities were not revealed. in Venezuela it rose to 589 people on Thursday (25), according to an updated report from the Venezuelan government. The new balance also states that there are 2,980 injured.

A native of Chapada de Minas (MG), Romildo had lived in Uberlândia for more than ten years. Recently, he traveled to the country to visit his wife's family, Carlha Nacarid, who is Venezuelan.
According to Carlha, the couple ran to seek shelter when the tremor started, but a wall fell on them both. Romildo was rescued and taken to a hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries and died in the early hours of the same day. Carlha survived the accident, remains hospitalized and, according to her family, is very shaken.
"My uncle was a very good person, a radiant person, who loved traveling and enjoying life. It is very sad to see people like that lose their lives in this way, especially with such a degree of neglect", lamented Jhulya.
Romildo had turned 69 on the 21st.
Family faces difficulties in bringing the body to Brazil
The relatives of Romildo in Brazil discovered what had happened unexpectedly. His sister saw a television report about the earthquake in Venezuela and decided to contact the couple. Initially, he was unable to speak to them because his cell phone had disappeared during the disaster. Hours later, Carlha managed to reestablish contact and told him about the accident.
Since then, the family has faced difficulties in bringing Romildo's body to Brazil. According to the relatives, they sought out the Consulate to receive guidance on the necessary procedures for the transfer, but have not yet received a definitive answer. Until this Friday, the family had also not received the death certificate.
"We still have no response. It is very desperate because we want to bring my uncle, mainly to have a dignified wake for him. They keep passing contact to each other", reported the niece.
