Paraná Research: in RJ, Lula and Flávio have a technical tie in the 1st and 2nd rounds

President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) and senator Flávio Bolsonaro (PL-RJ) are technically tied in the 1st and 2nd rounds of the 2026 presidential race, according to a survey by the Paraná Pesquisas institute carried out with voters in Rio de Janeiro and released this Thursday (2).

The PT member leads numerically with 41.6% of voting intentions, followed by Flávio, with 38.6%.

Next is businessman Renan Santos (Missão), with 1.6%. Former federal deputy Cabo Daciolo (Mobiliza) and former governors Romeu Zema (Novo) and Ronaldo Caiado (PSD) account for 1.3% each.

The former minister of the STF (Supreme Federal Court) Joaquim Barbosa (DC) adds 1.1%. Psychiatrist and writer Augusto Cury (Avante) records 0.9%, and Samara Martins (UP) has 0.6%.

Hertz Dias (PSTU) and Rui Costa Pimenta (PCO) score 0.1% each.

Blank, null and none votes are 6.8%. Another 4.8% did not know or had no opinion.

In a possible second round between Lula and Flávio, the pre-candidates are also technically tied, although the PT member leads numerically with 44.7% against the senator's 44.4%.

Blank, null and none votes total 7.2%. 3.7% did not know or had no opinion.

Methodology
The Paraná Pesquisas institute interviewed 1,600 voters in Rio de Janeiro, between June 29th and July 1st, through face-to-face interviews. The survey's margin of error is 2.5 percentage points, plus or minus, with a 95% confidence interval.

The research was carried out with resources from the institute itself and is registered with the TSE (Superior Electoral Court) under protocol BR-05371/2026.
