Paraguayan revealed by Vasco scores the fastest goal of the 2026 World Cup

Midfielder Matías Galarza made history at the 2026 World Cup this Friday (19). Revealed by Vasco, the player scored the fastest goal of the current edition of the tournament, finding the net after just 1 minute and 4 seconds in the match between Paraguay and Turkey, in the second round of Group D.

The move happened in the first seconds of the game. The Paraguayan team put pressure on Turkey's ball, and the play passed through the feet of Andrés Cubas and Julio Enciso before reaching Galarza. From outside the box, the midfielder hit a powerful shot into the left corner of the Turkish goalkeeper to open the scoring.

With a time of 1min04s, Galarza surpassed the record held by Moroccan Ismael Saibari. The Moroccan player had scored at 1:09 in the victory over Scotland and led the ranking of the fastest goals in the competition.

Revealed in Vasco's youth categories, Galarza played for the Rio club between 2020 and 2021 before moving on to Argentine football. Today, he is one of the names of the Paraguayan team that competes in the World Cup in the United States, Mexico and Canada.

Despite the record in the 2026 edition, the historic record for World Cups remains with Turkish Hakan Şükür, who scored after just 11 seconds against the Republic of Korea in the third place match at the 2002 World Cup.
