Pakistani Interior Minister arrives in Iran amid negotiations

Pakistan's Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has arrived in the Iranian city of Mashhad, where he is expected to hold meetings with senior officials of the Iranian regime, according to the semi-official Iranian news agency Tasnim.

Naqvi is expected to meet with his Iranian counterpart, Eskandar Momeni, and Tehran's Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi.

The visit is part of Islamabad's ongoing efforts regarding Iran-US negotiations, Tasnim reported.

Pakistan played a key mediation role in the negotiations that led to the signing of an interim agreement between the United States and Iran.

Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump's envoy, Steve Witkoff, is on his way to Switzerland, a US official said. Jared Kushner, Trump's son-in-law, is also expected to be in Switzerland to participate in possible technical negotiations with Iran.

It is not yet clear when these negotiations will take place. The next round was scheduled to begin on Friday (19), but was abruptly canceled amid an escalation in violence between Israel and Hezbollah.
