'Pagodão do 'after review'': Bahian remix of referee Wilton Pereira's English speech goes viral and entertains Brazilians

In Brazil, music and football often play together. And music producer VelhoMarlon, 39 years old, took advantage of the World Cup atmosphere to reinforce this.

The moment in which the referee announces the expulsion of a South African athlete quickly went viral and became a meme. Mainly due to the players' expression of incomprehension.
Wilton explains to the South African athletes that "after review, attacker number 11 committed serious foul play, and arm direct the face of the defender. Decision: direct free kick, red card."
In Portuguese, it would be something like: "After review, attacker number 11 committed a serious foul play, and the direct arm the defender's face. Decision: foul [direct free kick] and red card". VelhoMarlon.
"I found his natural and spontaneous way of communicating very amusing and, as a music producer, I soon began to see musicality in those lines. I decided to play with that and transform the excerpts into a Bahian pagodão, which is a rhythm closely linked to the joy and humor of our people", explained the producer to g1.
Although the World Cups are the stage for many hit productions - official or not -, he said he had no plans for a production focused on the games.
"I like to follow topics that are trending on the internet and sport always generates remarkable moments. It wasn't exactly a project planned for the World Cup, but when I saw the repercussion of Wilton's speeches, I realized that there was a creative opportunity to unite football, humor and music."

The producer says that the entire production process was very quick and that, first, he selected the vocal parts that had the most rhythm and personality. "Then I edited the audio, adjusted the tempo and tonality, created the musical base inspired by our pagodão and put everything together until it sounded like a real song", he says.
"The most challenging thing was editing the video and making the voice talk to the beat in a natural way."
VelhoMarlon states that he has not yet spoken to Wilton Pereira, but he saw that many of his followers tagged the referee on social media so that he could get to know the Bahian pagodão.
"If you reached it, I hope you received it with the same light and humorous spirit with which it was created."
