Oscar 2027: Conan O'Brien will present awards for the third year in a row

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced this Tuesday (12) that comedian Conan O'Brien will host the 99th Academy Awards, in his third consecutive year at the helm of the award show. The ceremony is scheduled for March 14, 2027, at the Dolby Theater, in Los Angeles, at 8 pm (Brasília time).

"We are so grateful for the continued partnership as we honor our global film community - and we look forward to Conan leading the celebration with his brilliance and humor," said Academy CEO Bill Kramer and Academy President Lynette Howell Taylor.

O'Brien is best known for his work as host of the shows "Late Night with Conan O'Brien", "The Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien" and "Conan". Previously, he worked as a writer for "Saturday Night Live" and "The Simpsons."

The Oscar shortlists will be revealed from December 15th this year. Voting for the nominees will take place between January 11 and 15, 2027, with the chosen ones announced on January 21. Final voting for the winners will be held from February 25th to March 4th.

The Governors Awards, the Academy's honorary awards, are scheduled for November 15, 2026.

The 100th edition of the Oscars also has a scheduled date: March 5, 2028.

New home

The Oscar awards ceremony will be held at the Peacock Theater starting in 2029. The event has been held at the Dolby Theater since 2002.

The change is part of a partnership signed until 2039 with the company AEG, owner of LA LIVE, a sports and entertainment complex located in downtown Los Angeles, where the award's new headquarters are located.

The space, which has capacity for more than 7,000 people and is already home to the Emmy Awards, is expected to undergo improvements, including upgrades to the stage, sound and lighting systems, lobbies and backstage facilities.
