Operation targets illegal sale of weight loss pens in Rio and SP

An operation by Decon-RJ (Consumer Police) targets a cell selling illegal weight loss pens this Tuesday morning (9) in the states of Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo.

The investigations began with social media monitoring, which made it possible to identify the suspect of illegally supplying the medicines in gyms located in the West and South zones of Rio.

Seven search and seizure warrants were executed in the capitals of Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo. The teams operate in the neighborhoods of Campo Grande, Recreio dos Bandeirantes and Barra da Tijuca, in addition to locations in São Paulo. All addresses targeted by the operation are linked to the person being investigated.

The investigations indicate that the products were sold without adequate sanitary control, "exposing consumers to risks arising from the acquisition of medicines of unknown origin and storage conditions."

According to Decon, this morning's action (9) aims to obtain new information about the criminal practices investigated, identify other members of the criminal association and deepen the investigation into the origin, storage, distribution and irregular marketing of weight-loss pens.
