Operation targets group specializing in theft of high-value cell phones in BA

The Civil Police of Bahia served, this Tuesday (7), court orders against a group specialized in the theft and sale of cell phones with high commercial value.

Operation Irmãos Metralha, carried out by the Operations Coordination of Deic (Specialized Department of Criminal Investigations), is carried out in Salvador and Cruz das Almas, in the interior of Bahia.

According to the corporation, the investigations, which began in May, revealed an organized criminal structure from the theft of electronics to the sale of the devices.

Criminals carried out reception practices mainly in the capital and used mechanisms to make it difficult to locate illicit equipment activity, being able to move financial resources and guarantee the criminal flow.

In the criminal structure, individuals were divided to carry out robberies, sell and receive devices, provide bank accounts to move illicit values and assist in the concealment and resale of cell phones.

The police reported that some subjects are already targets of other crimes, such as homicide, robbery, drug trafficking and illegal possession of weapons.

In addition to the warrants, the corporation must recover cell phones, and seize documents, electronic devices and other materials used in criminal activities. The objective is to intensify investigations to understand if there are other members and interrupt the scheme.
