ONS reduces projection for energy load in Brazil in July

The National Electric System Operator (ONS) reduced its forecast for the energy load in Brazil in July, now expecting growth of 1.7% year-on-year, to 77,541 average megawatts (MW), against an increase of 1.9% estimated until last week.

In a bulletin released this Friday, the agency also promoted a slight downward revision of its expectations for the level of the reservoirs of the Southeast/Mid-West hydroelectric plants, the main subsystem for energy storage. The expectation is that they will reach 65.6% of capacity by the end of July, against 65.8% predicted last week.

As for the rains that are expected to reach the country's hydroelectric plants in the month, the ONS adjusted upwards the forecasts for the Southeast/Mid-West (97% of the historical average, compared to 96% in the previous week's forecast), South (155%, compared to 151%) and North (64%, compared to 63%), while reducing it for the Northeast (62%, compared to 64%).
