The total average default rate recorded by banks in credit operations rose to 4.4% in April this year, a historic record, reported this Thursday (28) the Central Bank.
This is the same level as in February this year, and the highest value since the beginning of the monetary authority's revised historical series, in March 2011.
The record was reached on the eve of Desenrola 2.0, the government's new debt renegotiation program, which started in early May.
The Central Bank's default indicator considers operations that are more than 90 days late, both for individuals and companies.
